Lawsuit Filed Against Md. Bar Owner Accused Of Peeping Tom Violations

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- A Howard County woman and others are suing the owner of the Rams Head Group over hidden cameras in the women's bathroom.

Co-owner Kyle Muehlhauser now faces criminal charges and a class action lawsuit.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the suit just filed.

That new multi-million dollar class action lawsuit was filed in Howard County circuit court Monday--more than a week after the president of the Rams Head Group turned himself into police.

A woman who says she was a frequent customer at the Rams Head Tavern in Savage Mill has filed suit against the restaurant and its owner.

Last week, police charged 37-year-old Kyle Muehlhauser with allegedly putting up a hidden camera inside a women's bathroom.

The new lawsuit obtained by WJZ alleges Muehlhauser's video surveillance "was an attempt to satiate his sexual perversions at the expense of the privacy of the female patrons and employees."

"It's quite concerning. Not only for the people who've been to that restaurant, but for people in the community in general," said Sherry Llewellyn, Howard County Police Department.

Police conducted a ten month investigation after a woman reported a camera hidden in the bathroom had fallen near her feet. Investigators say surveillance video caught Muehlhauser installing it. Images of six women were found on a memory card.

Another attorney is also representing possible victims.

"Anybody who may be a victim of something like this feels embarrassed, they're humiliated. They feel degraded and violated," said G. Russell Donaldson, attorney.

Muehlhauser is the president of the Rams Head Group that manages restaurants and concert venues in Savage, the Power Plant, Pier Six Pavilion, Annapolis, Maryland Live Casino and Stevensville.

In a statement released last week, Muehlhauser said in part: "While I realize there will be a time to tell my story through the proper judicial channels, I am nonetheless embarrassed and humiliated by recent events."

Muehlhauser faces twelve charges, including six counts of peeping Tom violations. He's due in court next month.

Howard County police have notified law enforcement in other jurisdictions with Rams Head venues about Muehlhauser's arrest.
