Civil Trial Being Moved For Md. Doctor Accused Of Molesting Patient

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- The civil trial of a western Maryland doctor accused of molesting a female patient is being moved to another county to ensure an impartial jury.

An Allegany County judge issued the order Monday in the malpractice case against Dr. William Dando. Dando has denied touching the woman in a sexual manner during an examination at a walk-in clinic in LaVale.

The court hasn't yet decided which county will get the case.

Dando cited extensive publicity about his criminal record in seeking the removal. He obtained a Maryland medical license in 1996 despite his conviction and imprisonment for raping a woman at gunpoint in Florida nine years earlier.

Dando permanently surrendered his Maryland license in September to resolve criminal charges he sexually assaulted another female patient.
