BALTIMORE -- A 3-year-old boy died from an "accidental shooting" Monday in Howard County, police said.

An unsecured handgun went off inside a home on Harpers Farm Road.

The child's 5-year-old brother and parents were at home at the time of the incident, but police said they didn't see any indications of foul play.

Police are working to determine if the gunshot was self-inflicted or if it was fired by someone in the home.

While no charges have been filed, the investigation is ongoing, and detectives are consulting with the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.
