Cattle Truck Overturns Along I-81 In Md. Snowstorm

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a tractor-trailer carrying 93 cattle has overturned in a snowstorm on Interstate 81 near Hagerstown.

First Sgt. Curt Dominick says the accident late Thursday morning closed one of two southbound lanes near the U.S. 40 interchange.

He says both lanes may be closed for part of the afternoon so the cattle can be moved to another truck and the accident scene cleared.

Police say no people were hurt in the crash. It's not clear whether any cattle were killed.

The accident is one of many that have snarled traffic on interstates 81 and 70 in western Maryland.

The National Weather Service says the storm dropped 6 inches of snow in Hagerstown and as much as 9 1/2 inches in other parts of western and central Maryland.
