Woman dies, others injured after car crashes into home in Jessup

Car crashes into Jessup home

BALTIMORE -- BALTIMORE - A woman died when a car she was in crashed into a vacant home early Monday in Jessup, Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. in the area of Annapolis and Reece roads in Severn. The vehicle continued to speed away from the police.

Minutes later, police responded to a crash in a home on Jessup Road near Oak Ridge Road.

The speeding car with six people lost control and crashed into the home, police said. 

One passenger, identified as 26-year-old Julie Michelle Nushawg, died at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Five others were taken to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries.

Jessup Road was closed between Wigley Avenue and Carol Avenue for hours before the closure was lifted after 4:30 a.m.

There was extensive damage from what appeared to be a porch. A vehicle was towed out of the scene and appeared heavily damaged.
