Candlelight Vigil Remembers Tyrique Hudson Monday Night

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- A community came together Monday night to remember Tyrique Hudson, the man who asked for a peace order against a neighbor that was denied.

That neighbor is now charged with killing Hudson.

Colonial Square Apartments was flooded with community members Monday as they paid homage to the 22-year-old.

The apartment complex was where the Wilson, North Carolina native lived on his own before Baltimore County Police said he was gunned down by his neighbor, James Allan Verombeck- one week ago.

Hudson had filed a peace order against Verombeck back in February, claiming Verombeck threatened him, but a judge ultimately denied it, citing Hudson could not meet the burden of proof.

The young man was thriving in his first job as a software engineer at Northrup Grumman, and his family is left mourning the sudden loss.

"I keep repeating I want my baby. I just want my son. I want my baby," His mother said.

Monday's vigil brought in neighbors, community members and first responders, who all showed support despite not knowing Hudson, but still felt a connection to him.

"I have a bunch of children myself and grandchildren who are getting older now and just seeing these young lives getting taken away just way too soon just makes you weep," said David Bond, a neighbor in the Glen Burnie apartment complex.

"When these types of incidents occur in our community, our voices have to be heard. The NAACP is proud to be here along with the United Black Clergy at this vigil because we have lost a young life," said Jacqueline Allsup, Anne Arundel County NAACP.

Strangers prayed hand in hand, hoping, pleading for violence to come to an end.

Not just for Tyrique Hudson, but for the lives of others and their families going forward.

Hudson was working on a second promotion with his company less than two years after graduating from North Carolina A&T.
