Cab Driver Suspended Over Unlicensed Firearm

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A taxicab driver in Washington has been suspended after he was arrested for allegedly carrying an unlicensed firearm.

The Washington Post reports that the DC Taxicab Commission suspended cab driver Sahlu Tekletsadik's license on Friday after the man was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possessing unregistered ammunition and making felony threats during a road rage incident.

Authorities say Tekletsadik was driving a taxi on Tuesday when he began yelling at another cab driver. The other driver flagged down a police officer, who received permission to search Tekletsadik's cab. The officer found an unloaded gun and ammunition that were not properly registered.

A call could not be completed to Tekletsadik's residence on Sunday.
