Sinkhole To Blame For Building Collapses In Federal Hill
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A sinkhole is to blame for a partial building collapse in Federal Hill.
The Baltimore city Office of Emergency Management along with city firefighters responded to the building collapse in the unit block of East Forst Avenue Saturday morning.
When firefighters arrived they found debris on the sidewalk where the collapse happened.
DPW was called to the scene for a water main break and DOT handled the sinkhole.
Adjacent homes were evacuated as officials inspected the building.
This morning #BCFD responded to 17 E. Fort Ave. for a bldg collapse. Upon arrival, FFs discovered a partial collapse to the side of a bldg with visible debris on the sidewalk. @BaltimoreDPW were called to the scene for a water main break & @BmoreCityDOT for a sinkhole. The incident led to road closures and traffic delays in the area.
