Bud Norris Joins Scott and Jeremy
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Bud Norris joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn on Tuesday to recap his win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. Bud went 7 innings and only gave up 2 runs. He said that the early lead given to him gave him the confidence needed to get the win. "It was just a good team win; we have a nice long road trip here in Chicago. We knew we had a tough match-up with Sale on the other end of that. We just came out with a total team effort, Markakis was player of the year in my opinion and obviously big 5 runs in the eighth (inning) took some pressure off the bullpen and like I said we've been able to put it together and have fun doing it."
Nick Markakis played a huge role in Monday's win for the birds, sending one out of the park and making a game changing play. Bud talked about what he saw when the ball came off the bat. "I thought I made a good pitch, Gillespie put a good swing on it. It was a deep fly ball I didn't know if it was going to go. But Nick had a beat on it by the time that I saw he timed the jump perfectly and I had a pretty good view of him catching it and coming down with it too. I think that was the best play that's ever been made for me in my career so I was pretty ecstatic and it changed the whole game and gets us back in the win column."
The team spends the week in Chicago splitting series with the White Sox and the Cubs. Bud talked about getting to spend some time in the "Second City". "Yeah it's a cool little split. I played a bunch at Wrigley and a lot of guys have never been there so they're excited to do, and I haven't played a bunch of games here on the south side so you get a full tour of the city."
