Brian McBride On The Gold Cup Quarterfinals In Baltimore This Saturday
Brian McBride is a former member of the US Men's National team who also spent time in some of the best leagues around the world.
Brian joined Ed and Ken to talk about the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup games downtown this weekend and being the Allstate Protector Of The Gold Cup.
Brian started off by talking about being the Allstate Protector of the Gold Cup and the fun he is having with that experience saying "I'm having a great time, we get to travel around with the Gold Cup...we have the game-day setup I'll be there signing autographs and the really cool thing is we do a community out reach...go out do a clinic have some fun and give them some equipment."
As for the growth of soccer in the United States Brian said "I think it's just been a gradual momentum and of course the big burst with the Women winning the World Cup brings it into the public's eyes especially people who don't necessarily follow soccer...you also have people my age now who love soccer and have actually played the game."
Brian also talked about this weekend's Gold Cup games at M&T Bank Stadium and how the USA will fare against a surprising Cuban squad. Finally Brian talked about whether or not the US can win a World Cup in his lifetime saying "in my lifetime I hope, it's going to be difficult there are soccer specific countries who haven't come close to winning a World Cup...it's going to take a long time but I'm never going to say never."
