Brent Harris On Eric Weddle's Leadership, Pitta's Practices & More

Reporter for Comcast SportsNet & NBC Sports Network Brent Harris joined Norris and Davis to recap some of the sights and sounds from the Ravens OTAs.

The Ravens have off this week after being penalized for sporting full pads during practice. Ed Norris and Brent Harris agree, the Ravens made a mistake. Harris said, "This is not a new rule, I'm dumbfounded that they even attempted it. It is what it is and you went for it, and even if you got away with it, I don't know if it would have been worth it. These coaches, because of the rules, try to gain every little advantage possible. I get why they maybe look for loop holes...but it just doesn't make sense because I don't think they would've gotten a lot out of it."

However, while the OTAs were in session, players like Perriman and Pitta returned to the field after their injuries. Harris thinks the Ravens have seen some good signs of improvement. He said, "I think any time you can see Dennis Pitta on the field, running at full speed, is a great sign. He says he feels great. I think he still has a long way to go, putting the pads on and hitting...you just don't know if he's still going to be able to play but it's a great step forward to see him on the field."

Mike Wallace and Eric Weddle are also new to the team so this is a good time to get in some practice with the team, but as far as being impressed with the skills of the old and the new, it's hard to say the OTAs will show you too much. But one thing Harris says we will see is Weddle is taking on a big leadership position. Harris said, "He's infectious. Such a positive attitude. He's really excited to be a Raven. I think the one thing that the defense lacked was leadership and I think they get that with Eric Weddle."
