Black Caucus Chair to Meet With Hogan on Medical Marijuana
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Gov. Larry Hogan is scheduled to meet with the chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland to discuss the shortage of black applicants chosen as finalists to grow and process medical marijuana in the state.
Del. Cheryl Glenn is set to meet with Hogan Thursday. She says only one minority applicant was chosen as a finalist out of 15 growers and 15 processors.
Glenn, a leading sponsor of the 2014 legislation, says she is considering taking legal action if the diversity matter isn't addressed.
The governor says he also is concerned, but he says the administration doesn't have much of a role in the licensing process under the law. Hogan says he'll listen to the caucus' concerns and do what he can to help.
