Black Bear In Bethesda Relocated After Spending Day In Tree

BETHESDA, Md. (WJZ) -- A wild scene near the campus of the National Institutes of Health in Montgomery County.

A black bear decided to camp out in a tree for most of the day.

Eventually, crews from the Department of Natural Resources used a loud noise maker to scare the bear down from the tree.

That's when the animal was tranquilized and then taken to a wooded area along the Potomac River and released.

DNR officials say they're lucky the situation ended the way it did. They were afraid the bear would take off into traffic.
