Ben Carson Honors Oregon Shooting Victims In Facebook Post

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is honoring nine victims killed in Oregon on Thursday in a photo posted on Facebook which reads, "I am a Christian."

The 26-year-old gunman who opened fire on fellow students in his community college English class, killing nine people, was an Army boot camp dropout who studied mass shooters before becoming one himself.

Witnesses in the shooting at Umpqua Community College say Christopher Sean Harper-Mercer targeted Christians in his attack.

Carson's photo has been shared nearly 80,000 times today since the post had been published.

The presidential hopeful also changed his Facebook profile picture to an image that reads, #IamAChristian, in which he asks those to consider doing the same to honor the victims.

Please consider changing your profile picture to honor the victims and their families.
