Bank Manager Gets 8 Years For Role In Armored Truck Robbery

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A bank manager has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for plotting the robbery of an armored truck that serviced the branch.

Fifty-year-old Valentina Elebesunu of Temple Hills was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Tuesday in federal court in Greenbelt.

According to evidence presented at trial, Elebesunu was the branch manager at a Bank of America in Hyattsville. Prosecutors say Elebesunu and others, including a security guard at the bank, plotted to rob a truck when it picked up money at the branch.

Authorities say on Nov. 21, 2012, an armored truck picked up money at the bank. Prosecutors say as an employee took the money to the truck, Elebesunu's co-conspirators pointed guns at the employee, took the money and drove away in a van.
