Baltimore Woman Sentenced To 7 Years For Armed Robbery Of Dundalk Bank
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 20-year-old Baltimore woman was sentenced to 7 years in prison after she was convicted in an armed robbery.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Janaya Brittne Person-Robinson robbed an M&T Bank in Dundalk on Oct. 1, 2013 along with an accomplice, Darrius Roszario Washington. Person-Robinson previously worked as the bank as a teller trainee and was familiar with its layout, procedures and the staff.
Just before 7:30 a.m., she and Washington approached a teller in the bank's parking lot and pointed a .32 caliber gun at the teller's head, ordering her to unlock the door to the bank.
Although the teller initially told them she couldn't open the door, Washington threatened to "blow her head off." After the teller opened the door she fled and called police, while Washington and Person-Robinson entered the bank.
A second teller was then threatened to open the vault. Once inside he removed the money from the vault, while Person-Robinson took cash from the teller drawers. They left the bank with about $133,600 and fled. They were arrested a short time later and officers recovered the gun used in the robbery as well as the gloves and hats the suspects used. The cash was also recovered.
The 20-year-old Washington, also from Baltimore, was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison. Both are in federal custody.
