Baltimore Ravens 75-Man Roster Cuts

The Baltimore Ravens must whittle their roster down to 75 players by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1. They have announced, a day early, that they have made 8 cuts in route to the 75-man roster.

Here's who they've cut Monday:

• G Leon Brown (Alabama)
• WR DeAndre Carter (Sacramento State)
• CB Tramain Jacobs (Texas A&M)
• G/T Marcel Jones (Nebraska)
• P Justin Manton (Louisiana Monroe)
• WR Aldrick Robinson (Southern Methodist)
• LS Patrick Scales (Utah State)
• WR Trent Steelman (Army)

They needed to make 7 more moves players by the deadline, whether they placed players to injured reserve (IR) or the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

That's just what they did:

• TE Dennis Pitta (PUP)
• S Matt Elam (IR)
• CB Chris Greenwood (IR)
• OLB Steve Means (IR)
• TE Allen Reisner (IR)

Tuesday's cuts included:

• G/T De'Ondre Wesley (Brigham Young)
• T Darryl Baldwin

Seeing DeAndre Carter on that list may be concerning to some fans after hearing high praise from veteran wide receiver Steve Smith during OTAs. Smith compared Carter to Green Bay Packers' Pro Bowl WR Randall Cobb. He was competing for a spot as a receiver as well as a kick returner after the Ravens lost Jacoby Jones. Carter's performance in Camp as well as in muffed kickoffs in preseason games didn't stack up to that comparison.

The Ravens' final preseason game is Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons and then they must get down to their 53-man roster by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
