Baltimore Mayor To Join Cast Of 'Chicago' On Stage For Night
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is getting her big break in theater, joining the cast of "Chicago, The Musical" next week at the Hippodrome Theatre.
Show producers announced Rawlings-Blake will join the cast of the popular musical on March 4. This will be the first time a city mayor will join the cast on stage.
"Chicago" will be performed March 3 through March 8 at the Hippodrome. The show is set in 1920s Chicago as the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to leave her. Roxie hires the slickest criminal lawyer to transform the story of her crime with sensational headlines.
Rawlings-Blake says she is honored to join the cast and loves to show off Baltimore's cultural scene.
