Baltimore Entrepreneur Helps Others With Business Ownership

Mark Cashman is the owner of Anago of Baltimore, located in Glen Burnie. Anago is a commercial cleaning service known for providing quality janitorial services to a vast array of different types of businesses.

Cashman, along with his wife, joined the industry and became a business owner over a decade ago. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in business from the University of Massachusetts, where he graduated cum laude.

What are the responsibilities of your current role?

"My main responsibility is to sell franchises to people who want to own their own commercial cleaning business. We then obtain cleaning contracts for them and help equip them for the work. I also manage the internal operations such as all bookkeeping, receipts, management of the reimbursing processes and clients payments, etc. I then assist with field management of clients such as inspections and helping my partner with large clients. Overall, I help the franchisees not only start their business, but also grow their business."

What is your favorite part about your daily duties?

"My favorite part of my daily duties is when someone tells me they are ready to purchase a franchise from us because I know that I have helped another person build their own wealth and live out the American dream of business ownership."

How has your education/training prepared you for your current role?

"My education was such that it expanded my problem-solving capabilities."

What do you do to continue your education/training?

"I have a continuing education certificate from the University of South Carolina in leadership. It was a program which set out as its purpose to educate leaders in South Carolina as to the issues the state faced in nine different areas: economic, education, environment, social, political, etc."

Do you have any advice for others looking to enter this field?

"My advice is to be reasonable with everyone you do business with."
