FBI Agent Shoots And Kills A Man Near Wal-Mart In Owings Mills
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police and the FBI swarm a popular shopping area, as federal agents open fire on an SUV. It happened next to the Wal-Mart on Reisterstown Road.
Pat Warren has the latest information.
It happened right around rush hour in a busy shopping area.
The evidence speaks for itself--the bullet-riddled windshield and hood of an SUV with New York plates and an adult male shot dead inside the vehicle.
"This afternoon there was an incident involving federal agents. Federal agents did open fire on a subject. That subject is deceased," said Corporal John Wachter, Baltimore County Police.
A small group of people, some of whom said they are related to the deceased, gathered at the scene but declined to comment.
The shooting took place on an access road to the Sam's Club and Wal-Mart shopping center in the 9700-block of Reisterstown Road.
"One Baltimore County police officer was also with the federal agents. He did not fire his weapon," said Wachter. "At this point, the investigation is being conducted jointly between the FBI and the Baltimore County Police Department."
The FBI confirms three agents were involved in the shooting and the FBI headquarters shoot review team is conducting an investigation.
Warren: "Can you tell us anything about what happened and what occurred or why weapons were fired?"
Wachter: "Right now, it's very, very early in the investigation so we're not going to be able to say anything at this point."
Late in the evening, the FBI confirmed that no information on the shooting, the deceased or whether the man was a suspect in an FBI investigation would be released Friday night. More information may be released Saturday.
It does not appear that anyone else was in the car at the time of the shooting.
