Baltimore County Planning Drug Overdose Response Training
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- The Baltimore County Department of Health is offering a free, two-hour training course on how to prevent and respond to certain drug overdoses.
The training is scheduled for from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the English Consul Volunteer Fire Department on Michigan Avenue in Baltimore.
Officials say participants will learn to recognize, prevent and respond to overdoses of opioids like heroin, morphine and oxycodone. Participants will learn about intra-nasal naloxone, a prescription medication that is used to reverse an opioid overdose. Attendees will get a certificate of completion, a prescription for naloxone and a kit containing the medication.
Officials say seating is limited and pre-registration is required.
