Baltimore Co. Police Still Searching for Answers in 2005 Murder
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police are still searching for suspects in the 2005 murder of Tiona Smith. The 23-year-old woman was killed 11 years ago, found stabbed to death in Gwynn Oak.
On November 5, 2005, Smith left work at a McDonalds in Cockeysville at 10:45 p.m. She took an MTA bus and got off at a stop at Eutaw and Fayette Streets. Police say witness saw a small four-door car occupied by three males pull up to her at the intersection. One of them called her by name and eventually, she got into the car.
She was found dead the following morning, in a residential neighborhood in Gwynn Oak, on Fox Meadow Road, by neighborhood children who were playing in the area.
Police say she was found with trauma to her head and upper body, and died from multiple stab wounds according to a report from the Medical Examiner.
Police say family and friends do not know of anyone that would have wanted to harm Tiona. Her family says she was a friendly and easy going person, who was pleasant to talk.
Police, along with her family and friends are still looking for answers. In the the 11 years since her death, despite efforts from homicide detectives, Baltimore County Police have not yet been able to identify her killer.
They are asking for the anyone who may have information on this case to contact police or Metro Crime Stoppers. Police say any information, however small, that can be provided on this case is important.
