Baltimore Blast Hall Of Famer Billy Ronson Dead At 58

BALTIMORE (WJZ-FM) — The Baltimore Blast announced the passing of Blast player & fan favorite Billy Ronson Wednesday.

Ronson, a Blast Hall of Famer,  played for the Blast from 1985 - 1992 & returned again for the 98-99 season. A former Goucher Women's Soccer coach, Ronson returned to the Blast as Assistant Coach & Assistant General Manager from 1998-2002.

During his playing days Ronson was an All-Star in 1991, Team MVP in 1990-91 & ranks 5th on the original Blast's postseason all-time scoring list with 43 points.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Blast president/general manager Kevin Healey said Ronson had battled health issues in recent years and died of natural causes.

"First and foremost, Billy was a very good person who would do anything he could for you and that's what he did for the franchise," Healey said. "He was a player that everybody loved because of his work rate, hustle and ability."
