Arrests Made In String Of 76 Commercial Armed Robberies Across Maryland

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police arrested three suspects in a robbery spree that targeted several businesses across Maryland.

The spree ended at a McDonalds on Falls Road, and now they are connected with dozens of armed robberies across the area.

Multiple agencies, including Baltimore Police, Anne Arundel County Police and the FBI, investigated a string of 76 robberies that started at a Game Stop on York Road on Nov. 28.

"76 robberies- that's a lot of robberies," said Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan.

Of the 76 robberies, 18 were in Baltimore County, four were in Anne Arundel County and 54 were in Baltimore City.

Dontrell Eric Glover, 27, of Baltimore, 25-year-old Milek Anton Rankinof Baltimore and 32-year-old Marquis Davon Moore of Baltimore were all arrested in the case.

Two Masked Gunmen Rob McDonald's On Falls Road

All three suspects were charged with two counts each of armed robbery, robbery, and first degree assault, with additional charges pending additional investigation.

Police said the robberies had similarities in that the suspects were masked, entered the businesses in the early evening hours wearing unique clothing and stole cash and store merchandise.

"When there are crimes committed across jurisdictions it takes serious commitment and cooperation from agencies to bring a successful conclusion to those investigations. That is exactly what we had in this case, which has brought an end to this crime spree and a sense of security back to our communities," said Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan.

"We had to take these suspects off the street and together, we did," said acting Baltimore police commissioner Michael Harrison.

Police said robberies they know about date back to November, and all three suspects remain held on no bail status following bail review hearings Monday.

Police said all in all, six McDonalds, five Gamestops, five Family Dollars, and a host of other businesses were hit.

Charging documents show a Tuesday night in January where the three men were so active, after they allegedly robbed a Burger King on Baltimore National Pike, they weren't nearly done.

15 minutes later, they hit up another Burger King up the Beltway, on Liberty Road, where documents show they left with $544 and some food.

And again, another 15 minutes later, police said they robbed a McDonalds on Frederick Road. Three men, connected with three armed robberies in just 30 minutes with one simple motive.

"Money. Pure and simple," Sheridan said.

Police said witness testimony, surveillance and quick police work led to the arrests.

"Fortunately, no one got hurt. Unfortunately, 76 people had guns in their face," Sheridan said.

The string of robberies ended on March 1 when Baltimore County police responded to a call for an armed robbery of a McDonald's in the 6200 block of Liberty Road.

Detectives found the suspect vehicle in the 2000 block of N. Forest Park Avenue when it stopped for gas.

Glover, the suspected driver, and Rankin fled on foot. Moore got back into the car and fled.

Glover and Rankin were taken into custody.

Police caught up with Moore in Howard County and took him into custody.
