Anne Arundel County Woman Arrested In Kidnapping And Murder Plot
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- An Anne Arundel County woman is behind bars, charged in a kidnapping and murder plot.
Police say Stacie Roberts, 33, wanted a primary witness kidnapped so he wouldn't be able to testify against her boyfriend, a cousin of the Annapolis mayor, in court.
Savvas Pantelides, 24, is currently awaiting trial on robbery and attempted murder charges.
A detective posing as an outlaw motorcycle gang associate spoke with Roberts Monday about what she wanted done.
Investigators say Roberts insisted on several occasions that she didn't want the victim to appear in court.
Roberts then gave the detective the victim's name, physical description and address. She also offered $1,600 cash and prescription pills to have the victim killed.
After the detective finished speaking with Roberts, police took her into custody without incident.
"Our primary consideration in this case was the protection of the victim and state's witness," said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis. "Her plot was an assault against our nation's criminal justice system and we are its defenders."
Roberts faces multiple charges, including obstruction of justice. If convicted, she could face up to 30 years in prison.
