Suspect In Custody Following Shooting Of AACo. Officer

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—Authorities in Anne Arundel County have arrested a second suspect for their involvement in the shooting of an officer on Friday.

Authorities made the announcement on Sunday afternoon, but have not provided additional information regarding the arrest.

The incident started unfolded on Friday when the officer came to the 7-11 just before 2:30 a.m. when several witnesses reported a suspicious person nearby.

Police say Corporal Adams approached the man and there was some kind of altercation. The man began to run and the officer followed him. That's when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the upper body.

On Friday night, police announced the arrest of the first suspect, 30-year-old Colvin Lamar White, of Annapolis.

White is facing multiple charges including attempted first degree murder, attempted second degree murder. He is currently being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center

"My primary focus has been the health and well-being of our officer," said Anne Arundel County Chief of Police Timothy Altomare. "It was a cowardly act and I am proud of the men and women of this agency for coming together to identify and charge the person responsible."

More details on the second suspect with be available after a schedule press conference on Monday.

Police said Corporal Adams has  been upgraded from critical condition to serious condition.
