Annapolis Police Officer Injured In Weekend Crash

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Police say an Annapolis police officer was injured after his car was struck by another vehicle.

The crash occurred late Saturday about 11:45 p.m. on Compromise Street near Fleet Reserve Club. That's where Officer Michael Schreiber was parked when a Ford truck veered off the road and struck a wall, hitting the officer's vehicle.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amy Miguez tells The Capital that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. It wasn't immediately clear, though, whether police filed charges against the driver.

Emergency responders extricated Schreiber from the vehicle. He was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore and was released from the hospital Sunday. The driver of the truck was not injured.
