31 Cats Rescued From Baltimore County Motel
MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County health department officials seized dozens of cats from a residence in Middle River Monday afternoon.
County officials said they received a call about too many animals at a residence at the Colonial Inn in the 9000 block of Pulaski Highway at around 9 a.m. Monday morning.
Aerial video from Chopper 13 showed crews in hazmat suits removing multiple cages from the residence.
In total, 31 cats were removed from the property, Colonial Motel, and are being held in the county's care.
County officials said they were a mixture of adult cats and kittens, some of the cats were reported to be underweight, had fleas and tapeworms and upon evaluation learned a few of the cats were pregnant.
Police have identified the person responsible and they are working to find them at this time.
The county has not said if anyone will face charges.
The Baltimore County fire department also responded as a precaution due to a strong ammonia smell.
