Great Athletes Who Made Terrible Music
When you are one of the best at something it must seem as if you can do it all. Well, that is not the case here.
Of course, that is not to say there aren't some athletes who have been able to do a "good job" in the music industry. Former Yankees outfielder Bernie Williams is a Jazz guitar player who was nominated for a Latin Grammy. The late Wayman Tisdale played 12 years in the NBA before launching a career as a "Smooth Jazz" bassist recording 8 albums including a No. 1 record on Billboard's Billboard's contemporary jazz chart, and Olympic Gold winning snowboarder Shaun White's rock band "Bad Things" has toured all over the country with major acts.
Unfortunately (for our ears), those success stories are few and far between, here are a few athletes who should have stayed away from the studio.
1. Shaquille O'Neal.
Nobody can deny Shaq's greatness on the court, but his raps are worse than his free throw shooting.
2. Oscar De La Hoya
Perhaps one of the greatest boxers ever, De La Hoya has defeated 17 world champions and has won ten world titles in six different weight classes. This song though is not exactly a knockout.
3. Bronson Arroyo
Bronson Arroyo has a Gold Glove, is a good pitcher, has won a World Series championship and also released his debut album, Covering the Bases in 2005.
He "attempted" to cover songs from bands such as Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters and Incubus. Let's just say it didn't rank too highly on the charts.
4. Manny Pacquiao
Another great boxer who has won 10 World Titles and is a MEMBER OF CONGRESS(!) in his native Philippines. So why did he have to go and do this?
5. Deion Sanders
Arguably one the greatest NFL cornerbacks and return man of all time, Sanders unfortunately was not ready for "Prime Time" when it came to the tunes.
6. The Mannings
At least the Manning Bros were kinda funny....on purpose.
7. Ray Lewis
He teamed up with Under Armour and Pharrell Williams in 2013. And this happened...
But more recently, Ray Lewis released a teaser of his new rap, "Can You Stand The Rain," on Instagram and it sounds like this:
