3 Rescued From Burning Annapolis Building

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Fire officials say crews rescued three people from the third floor of a burning garden-style apartment building in Annapolis.

The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The Annapolis Fire Department says in a statement that bystanders alerted firefighters that people were trapped on the third floor, where smoke was visible. Firefighters used ladders and rescued the three people from a balcony. One was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

The fire was placed under control after about an hour. The cause and origin are under investigation, and the fire department not immediately able to provide damage estimates.
