3 Hospitalized After Police Chase In D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Authorities say an armed carjacking in Montgomery County ended in a police chase and shootout in Washington that sent three people to the hospital.

Authorities say the chase began at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a U.S. Park Police officer noticed a black Jeep matching the description of an armed carjacking in Chevy Chase. The Jeep refused to stop and later crashed at the intersection of Bladensburg Road and New York Avenue NE in Washington. Gunfire was exchanged and three of the Jeep's five passengers were wounded.

Police say the three people injured have non-life-threatening injuries and that a gun was recovered from the vehicle.
