3 Die In Semi Truck Accident On Eastern Shore

QUEEN ANNE, Md. (AP) -- Two tractor-trailers collided head-on on Maryland's Eastern Shore, killing three people.

Maryland State Police say a tractor-trailer driven by 38-year-old Brian Hutcheson of Ramer, Tennessee, was traveling on Maryland Route 404 in Queen Anne Tuesday morning when it crossed the center line.

Troopers said the rig side-swiped a second tractor-trailer operated by 52-year-old Terry Coward of Culpepper, Virginia, before colliding head-on with a third semi.

Police say one of the semis became fully engulfed in flames. Troopers say Hutcheson, Coward and  Hutcheson's passenger, 24-year-old Danielle Mumford of Delmar, Delaware, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the third tractor-trailer was not hurt.

The Maryland Department of the Environment cleaned up a diesel fuel spill.

Anyone who saw the crash is being asked to call 410-819-4753.
