Man Killed, Another Injured In Monday Night Shootings In Baltimore, Police Say

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 21-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old man was injured in separate shootings in Baltimore Monday, city police said.

The first shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Officers responded to a Shot Spotter alert in the 3900 block of Liberty Heights Avenue and found evidence of a shooting at a nearby BP gas station.

A short time later, officers got a call of a 22-year-old walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital, police said. His condition is unknown.

Shortly after 9 p.m., officers in the area of North and Smallwood avenues heard gunshots in the area. They then found a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his upper torso, police said.

The man died a short time after getting to an area hospital. Police later identified him as James Simms.

Police have not determined a motive or identified a suspect.
