2 Men Sentenced For Commercial Armed Robberies

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Two Washington men have been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for two commercial armed robberies in Hyattsville and Bowie.

Thirty-five-year-old Jeffery Louis Adams was sentenced to 12 years and 33-year-old Antonio Lamont Gaithers was sentenced to 14 years. Both were also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Monday in federal court in Greenbelt.

According to their plea agreements, in October 2011, Gaithers and a co-conspirator, both armed with handguns, robbed the cash office in a Wal-Mart in Hyattsville of $140,000.

Prosecutors say in January 2012, Gaithers robbed an employee of an armored vehicle in front of a Wal-Mart in Bowie. Authorities say he made off with more than $88,000 in cash and fled in a van occupied by Adams.
