2 Brothers Arrested In The Shooting Death Of A Teen in Odenton
ODENTON, Md. (WJZ)--- Anne Arundel County Police have charged two brothers in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man that shook the Odenton community.
Police say on Dec. 10, 2013, at approximately 3:35 a.m. they were called to the 1300-block of Chapelview Drive in Odenton for reports of gunshots being heard in the area.
Officers arrived to find 19-year-old Shar-Ron Charles Mason suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body inside of a home, and he was shortly pronounced dead.
After conducting interviews and piecing evidence together, police were able to link two suspects to this crime.
Police say 20-year-old Bashaunn Phillips knew Mason and was involved in an altercation with him in October 2013. That altercation led to Phillips awaiting a court date. Just weeks before the case was supposed to go to trial, Mason was murdered.
Police say Phillips 17-year-old brother, Tymaine Phillips, attempted to hide evidence from law enforcement and authorities after the fatal shooting.
Last Friday afternoon, Anne Arundel County Police took Tymaine Phillips into custody without incident.
Bashunn Phillips was already behind bars for another case and was served with an arrest warrant.
Tymaine Phillips is charged as an adult with one count of carrying a handgun and accessory after the fact. His older brother is charged with first and second-degree murder, manslaughter, use of a firearm in a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and carrying a handgun.
Even though arrests have been made, anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Detective Jack Hartzell of the Homicide Unit at 410-222-3566.
