'You Don't Know Who's Next' | 17-Year-Old Killed, 2 Others Injured In Overnight Baltimore Shootings
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 17-year-old was fatally shot late Wednesday in northeast Baltimore.
According to police, officers responded to a Shotspotter alert in the 2800 block of Mayfield Avenue. There they found a 17-year-old boy unresponsive on a front porch.
The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his body. He was taken to Johns Hopkins where he later died.
Neighbors were scared to talk to WJZ Thursday, saying their neighborhood is going through yet another rough patch and it seems like no one cares.
"It's too much and all we ask for is some help from the city," one neighbor said.
From her porch, a mother weeps as investigators piece together the fatal shooting feet away.
"I got family and I live around here so you don't know who's next," she said.
Many of the residents who live in the area have been there for decades. They said young people from other areas are the ones causing trouble.
"They came around here to get a body, but a day ago we called the police and told them about these young people (who were) off the hook: 'Come get them, they're gambling, they're getting high,'" a neighbor said.
As residents seek change, they hope to work with police, who they say they call often to report crime.
They're also hopeful about a meeting between Gov. Larry Hogan, Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young and Police Commissioner Michael Harrison Friday afternoon to talk about violent crime.

Two others were injured in a shooting early Thursday morning in Baltimore.

There they found a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left ankle and a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right leg. Both victims were taken to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
