145-Year-Old Monkton Church Restored After 2014 Lightning Strike
MONKTON, Md. (WJZ)—A Baltimore County church held a re-dedication ceremony Sunday after it was damaged last summer by lightning.
The 2014 lightning strike turned the ten-foot steeple atop Monkton's United Methodist Church into a fireball.
One year later, a community gathered to celebrate the beautiful restoration of the 145-year-old church.
Church members all took turns ringing the bell placed on the new steeple--a sign of new beginnings for the community.
