11-Year-Old Helps Police Nab Burglary Suspect

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- An 11-year-old Glen Burnie girl helped police nab a man suspected in the burglary of her  home Monday morning.

According to Anne Arundel County police, the girl was getting ready to head out for school just before 7:30 a.m. when she heard a banging noise coming from the back deck of her home. When she went to find out what was making the noise, she saw a man trying enter through the back door. She ran to the neighbor's house and called 911.

Police arrived in the 700 block of Wesley Road in Glen Burnie to find the man leaving the home from the back yard and immediately arrested him. According to the police report, the man was carrying a backpack containing electronic devices from the home as well as a hammer.

A police investigation revealed the suspect broke out the glass in the back door to get inside the home, then rummaged through several rooms.

Police have charged 46-year-old Dannyell Anthony Darby, of the 600 block of Cecil Avenue in Millersville, Md., with 1st degree burglary, 3rd degree burglary, 4th degree burglary, theft over $1,000 and destruction of property.
