Women photographers of the Middle East
Issues of culture, identity and politics will be explored through the work of four prominent female photographers in “The Middle East Revealed: A Female Perspective.” The gallery show will be on display in New York’s Howard Greenberg Gallery from June 26 to Aug. 30, 2014.
This image, "Lubna, Beirut, Lebanon" was taken by Rania Matar in 2010 as part of her series "Girl and Her Room." Matar, who was born and raised in Lebanon, focuses her work on portraits of girls and women. In this series, she photographed teen girls in Lebanon and Palestine posing in their bedrooms.
