What's Your Favorite Show On TV?

Bob Schieffer took over as the "interim" anchor of the "CBS Evening News" when Dan Rather retired from the broadcast after 24 years. "The news," be it local, broadcast, or cable, came in second in the CBS News poll with 6 percent.

Kiefer Sutherland's intense Fox series "24" tied with "American Idol," "The Sopranos," and "sports" as the fourth-favorite programs on TV with 4 percent. In June, 20th Century Fox inked a deal with the show's creators to bring Jack Bauer and his painfully long days to the big screen.

Soul singer Taylor Hicks became the fifth person to win "American Idol" when he received 63 million votes during the grand finale in May. The show ranked fourth, with 4 percent, in the CBS News poll.

Emmy-winning series "The Sopranos" had its sixth season finale in early June and will return for its seventh and final season in early 2007. The HBO series was the only cable show to rank in the top 10 of the CBS News poll.

Sports programs were tied with "24," "American Idol," and "The Sopranos" for fourth place in the poll. Sexy English actor Hugh Laurie stars as Dr. Greg House in the Fox medical drama "House." In the CBS News poll Laurie's show and ABC's "Lost" tied for fifth place with 3 percent. The new season of "House" premieres Sept. 13 on Fox.

The ensemble drama "Lost," which just finished its second season, is about a group of people whose plane crashed on a deserted island and what transpires when they realize they're not the only ones standed there.

NBC's "Deal or No Deal," ranked as the sixth-favorite show on TV in the poll with 2 percent. The game show has revived Howie Mandell's television career and consistently scored high ratings.
