In July 2008, Jessica Logan, 18, committed suicide in her closet after months of alleged abuse from her Ohio classmates. Logan's ex-boyfriend forwarded nude picture to hundreds of other high school girls, many of whom allegedly harassed Logan at school, calling her a "slut" and "whore." Logan's mother claims her daughter's suicide occurred when the harassment became unbearable.Jessica's parents sued her school, the city of Montgomery, Ohio, and several students they believe were involved for unspecified monetary damages. The suit accuses the school and the Montgomery police of not doing enough to keep their daughter from being bullied and harassed after the nude photos of her were widely viewed.

Eric Mohat, 17, shot himself in March 2007 after his parents say repeated bullying incidences were ignored by his school district in Mentor, Ohio. Mohat's mother told CBS News she believes her son's suicide was provoked by a comment by one of Mohat's classmates that nobody would miss him if he shot himself.Mohat's parents, William and Janis Mohat of Mentor, Ohio, filed a federal lawsuit, saying that their son endured bullying in front of school officials who should have protected him.
School attorneys claim his parents' own negligence contributed to the suicide.
Justices are not expected to rule on the question of law for several months.

The 16-year-old boy with whom Megan had been communicating turned out to be a fabrication created by Lori Drew, a Missouri mother who lived near her.Drew was not charged with a crime in Missouri because the existing harassment statute did not cover digital technologies.
Drew eventually was tried in federal court in Los Angeles on charges of computer fraud. MySpace has its servers in Beverly Hills.
A jury convicted Drew of three misdemeanor charges in November 2008 but the judge threw out those convictions in July 2009.
