Authorities say tornadoes and thunderstorms that swept through the Midwest overnight killed a number of people in Ohio, destroyed homes, and damaged a high school gymnasium where graduation was to be held Sunday. At least seven people were killed.
This tornado touched down in Elmwood, Ill., on Saturday, in an image taken from a video courtesy of Black Cloud Media. The community of Elmwood (population about 2,000) had
significant damage to downtown buildings, including city hall where the police department is located. The roof collapsed on a movie theater where up to 200 people had been evacuated to the basement. Illinois State Police Trooper Dustin Pierce said, "There were no injuries, believe it or not."
