Lookout Mobile Security, a smartphone protection company, rounded up the 10 worst places to lose your phone, as well as your chances of recovering your beloved mobile device in said venues. So be cautious next time your phone is in...
Your purse?! Okay, so it's not going anywhere. You just can't find it when it's ringing or buzzing. That's annoying. Luckily, if you take the time, you will eventually find it and contact the missed call.
Chance of recovery: 95 to 100 percent
9. Restaurants and bars
Restaurants and bars are two of the most common places where cell phones are lost, left behind or accidentally switched with someone else's. But since there are bus boys, servers and other patrons around, the chance of recovery is not a hopeless cause.
Chance of recovery: 80 to 95 percent
8. Roof of your car
Believe it or not, it happens. Since it's common for drivers to use Bluetooth headsets, sometimes they leave their mobile devices on top of the car as they help themselves in. Unfortunately, recovering your cell phone after you've left it on the roof of your car can be tough. Plus, if you're on the road, you might be able to find your device, but it will probably be broken.
Chance of recovery: 25 to 75 percent
7. Changing room
Department store changing rooms are also a breeding ground for lost cell phones. When you're trying on clothes, you tend to put your phone down or it might even slip out of your pants pocket as you change in and out of garments.
Chance of recovery: 0 to 15 percent
6. Airport security
Oh yes, we're all paranoid about going through airport security. When you put all of your stuff - mobile device included - in that bin and step away to go through those metal detectors, who knows what will happen next. And when you're chosen to be searched, that gives more opportunity for your phone to be forgotten. After all, your mind is on other things.
Chance of recovery: 50 to 100 percent
5. School
Locker rooms, lockers, bathrooms and classrooms are also places where handy cell phones can be lost. Students are likely occupied with other things - socializing, school work, etc. Even though there is a lost and found, your chance of recovery can be dismal. Just cross your fingers, students, and hope for the best.
Chance of recovery: 15 to 75 percent
4. Bus or subway
Public transportation can be awesome, but when it comes to gadgets, it can be a nightmare. If you leave behind your mobile device on a bus or train, you can pretty much forget about being reunited with it, so just cancel your service and call it a day. Losing it on public transportation can even cost you money depending on whose hands your device falls in.
Chance of recovery: 0 to 2 percent
3. Airplane
There's no question, being on a plane can make someone anxious. When that plane lands and the pilot tells you that you're free to leave, you get up and hurry out of there, you might forget something like your mobile device.

2. Taxi
We've heard this tale one too many times. You play games, text and talk on the phone while you're in the back of a cab. When that cab stops, you rummage to pay for your fare, but might leave your phone behind in the process. The next thing you know, the cab drives off but you can't even recall the license plate number, unable to identify to authorities where your phone was lost.
Chance of recovery: 0 to 50 percent
1. Swimming pool
This happens more often than many of us think, says Lookout Mobile Security. When you're poolside, sometimes you can forget that your mobile device is in your swimming trunks or board shorts. You should've just left it at home because once that phone touches water, whether it's recovered or not, it might not even work again.
