Controversy over yoga mat chemical in food

Subway made headlines in February when the sandwich shop announced it was removing a chemical called azodicarbonamide (ADA) from its breads.

The chemical is used to bleach flour and make dough stronger and more rubbery, but it is also used in yoga mats and rubber shoe soles.

The chemical is approved by the FDA and USDA as safe for food.

The Environmental Working Group says almost 500 foods contain the chemical.

Smucker's Uncrustables

Smucker's had five varieties of Uncrustables sandwiches on the list, including grape, raspberry and strawberry varieties.

Little Debbie Honey Buns

Little Debbie pastries -- including the Cheese Danish Classic  Cinnamon Rolls With Icing, Cream Cheese Danish, Cherry Cheese Danish and Honey Buns -- made the list.

Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches

Tyson's Mini Chicken Sandwiches in breaded, grilled and cheese varieties were on EWG's list.

Jimmy Dean's Sausage

Jimmy Dean had six products on the list, including the "Sausage, Egg & Cheese On A Muffin."

Arnold Bakery Light

Arnold's Light 100 percent Whole Wheat Bread and Wheat Sandwich Rolls made the list.

Pillsbury Toaster Strudel

Pillsbury had 16 products on the list, including varieties of Toaster Strudels, Toaster Scrambles, Breadsticks, Dinner Rolls and Pizza Crusts

Margherita Pizza

Artichoke Basilles Pizza Co.'s Margherita Pizza made the list for containing azodicarbonamide.

White Castle burgers

White Castle's Cheeseburgers and Microwavable Hamburgers made the Environmental Working Group list of products containing the chemical.

Cheese ‘N Berries Danish

Bon Appetit danishes in apple and cheese & berries flavors made the list. So too did the company's super cinnamon rolls, cheese croissants and blueberry cream pastries.

Sara Lee Bagels

Sara Lee had 19 bread products on the EWG's list, including brown sugar cinnamon breakfast bread, classic dinner rolls, some varieties of bagels and buns.

Toufayan Blueberry Bagels

Toufayan Bakeries had seven products on EWG's list, mostly varieties of their bagels.

Betty Crocker Suddenly Pasta Salad

Betty Crocker's Pasta Caesar Salad and Suddenly Pasta Salad Caesar products made the list.

Turano French Rolls

Turano had 10 types of breads and rolls on the list, including its French Rolls.
