The Instagram-worthy Museum of Feelings
New Yorkers are following the light, which leads straight to the city's popular pop-up installation -- the Museum of Feelings. The museum glows at night to reflect the current mood of New York City, changing colors based on social media and other real-time data. While waiting in hours long lines, viewers check out the city's emotional color wheel while joking about getting their "feelings on."
Inside, museum goers test their senses by soaking in colorful, Glade-scented rooms that signify Optimistic, Joy, Invigorated, Exhilarated and Calm-themed exhibits. Guests are allowed to explore each room for about five to seven minutes before moving on to the next emotion. From the joyful forest to the calming cloud, each room allows visitors to experience a range of emotions which "lead with scent and engage sight, sound and touch."
Optimistic
The first experience zone is Optimistic. After traveling through layers of pink curtains, visitors enter a nearly empty room that features two sparkling gems. On the way inside, people are handed a scented and reflective card that can be used to reflect an array of light beams. The light pink room is filled with Glade's berry scent, Radiant Berries.
Joy
The second experience zone is Joy. Visitors step into the "Joyful Forest," inspired by Glade's Balsam & Fir scent. Stems of green light fall from the "sky" to make people feel like they're walking through the woods.
Joy
"With mirrored and reflective surfaces on the floor and walls, the forest will appear infinite above and below," according to Glade's news release.
Joy
People follow scented lanterns to find their way to the next exhibit.
Invigorated
The third experience zone is Invigorated. Visitors put on 3-D glasses before they step onto an invigorating dance floor, where they're surrounded by a halo of light. The halo reacts to motions and speed as guests move around.
Invigorated
The more visitors move and dance, the thicker the halo of light.
Invigorated
Subwoofers underfoot enhance the 3-D experience, sending vibrations of encouragement through people's feet.
Exhilarated
The fourth experience zone is Exhilarated. Museum goers enter a virtual kaleidoscope of colors. Pink, yellow, orange and red colors fill the floral-themed room as different images dance on screens around the room.
Exhilarated
A touch screen stands in the center of the room, allowing guests to control the movement of images featured on the exhibit's walls.
Exhilarated
Mirrors surround the walls, which gives users the perfect opportunity to snap a floral selfie.
Calm
The fifth experience zone is Calm. As visitors enter the room through velvet curtains, a staff member warns guests to "please not sit or lay down -- because as much as you'd like to nap, it's not a very good idea." The carpeted room is filled with pink smoke and a cloud that changes colors every three minutes.
Calm
With a slow tempo song playing in the background, the smell of creamy vanilla and lavender flowers may just put you to sleep.
