Thousands of people across the U.S. marched in rain, snow and sweltering heat Saturday to demand action on climate change, while taking aim at President Donald Trump's agenda of rolling back environmental protections.

About 300 sister marches and rallies were held around the country, including in Augusta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Tampa.

The demonstrations came one week after advocates of science and public policies based on scientifically-supported data gathered in 600 cities around the globe, alarmed by political and public rejection of established research on topics ranging from climate change to the safety of vaccines.

Participants objected to Mr. Trump's rollback of restrictions on mining, oil drilling and greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants, among other policy stances.
Mr. Trump, who has called climate change a hoax, is also planning massive cutbacks at the Environmental Protection Agency.

The day before the march, the climate change section of the EPA website, including links to decades' worth of government data on our warming planet, was taken offline. An EPA spokesperson told the Washington Post the move was to "eliminate confusion by removing outdated language."

Hundreds of sister climate marches were held in cities around the U.S. and across the globe. Among the international cities where demonstrators marched were Amsterdam, Athens, Bangkok, Dublin, Geneva, London, Manila, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro, Seville and Vienna.
