National Lampoon's "Vacation": Where are they now?
/ CBS News
It's been three decades since the Griswalds took an ill-planned road trip to Wally World in National Lampoon's "Vacation." The comedy first premiered on July 29, 1983, and instantly became a box office smash. In celebration of the film's 30th anniversary, we've taken a look at what the "Vacation" stars have been up to over the years.
Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold
Chase was one of the few "Vacation" cast members who was already a known-star before the film's release. He had previously appeared in the hit comedy "Caddyshack" and was also one of the original players on "Saturday Night Live." In the role of bumbling but good-natured family man Clark Griswald, Chase was further solidified as a household name.

More leading roles quickly followed after "Vacation," with starring turns in "Fletch" and "The Three Amigos," but Chase wasn't able to re-capture that same success as a TV talk show host. "The Chevy Chase Show" was canceled after just 14 episodes in 1993. His most recent role of note was as Pierce Hawthorne on NBC's "Community" from 2009-2013. Since 1983, Chase has starred in three additional installments in the National Lampoon series along with on-screen wife, Beverly D'Angelo. Both Chase, who turns 70 in October, and D'Angelo are expected to co-star in an upcoming "Vacation" reboot.
Beverly D'Angelo as Ellen Griswold
Beverly D'Angelo originally got her start as a cartoonist for Hannah Barbara in the early 1970s. Before "Vacation," D'Angelo had appeared in the 1979 film adaptation of "Hair" (directed by D'Angelo's then-beau Milos Forman) and sang all of her own songs as Patsy Cline in "A Coal Miner's Daughter." D'Angelo earned praise for her performance in "Vacation" as the incredibly-patient wife Ellen Griswold, who puts up with her husband's many misadventures.
Beverly D'Angelo
D'Angelo has continued to act steadily since the release of "Vacation", but she's been more focused in recent years in her role as a mother. She was in a turbulent relationship with Al Pacino from 1996-2003 and the couple had twins Olivia and Anton in 2001. D'Angelo's most recent notable gig was in the reoccurring role of tough-as-nails agent Barbara "Babs" Miller on HBO's "Entourage." Now 61, D'Angelo is set to reprise her role as Ellen Griswald alongside Chase in a new "Vacation" adventure starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate.
Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie
Randy Quaid reminded us that there's a wacky-yet-lovable Cousin Eddie in every family.
Randy Quaid
Quaid would return as Cousin Eddie on several occasions, most notably in "Christmas Vacation" and "Vegas Vacation." The character even got his own spinoff TV-movie, 2003's much-ridiculed "Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure." Quaid has also appeared in films like "Independence Day" and "Brokeback Mountain," but his career has been sidelined over the last several years due to personal and legal troubles. In 2010, Quaid and his wife, Evi, sought asylum in Canada, to escape from people they described as "Hollywood star whackers."
Anthony Michael Hall as Rusty
Hall was just 15 when he starred in his first major feature film role as nerdy-yet-lovable Griswald son, Rusty.
Anthony Michael Hall
Hall went on to star in movies directed by "Vacation" screenwriter John Hughes, such as "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club," becoming a bona fide member of the so-called "Brat Pack." At 17, Hall became the youngest performer to ever join "SNL", but was forced to leave the cast after just one season over issues with alcohol. He has since appeared in many films since that time including "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Dark Knight" in addition to being the star of the "Dead Zone" TV series from 2002-2007. The now-45-year-old Hall has also made two guest appearances on "Community" alongside Chase.
Dana Barron as Audrey
Barron played the moody Griswald daughter who clearly didn't want to be on the trip.
Dana Barron
Barron reprised her role as Audrey in the 2003 TV-movie spin-off "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure." Her most recent film role was in 2010's "happythankyoumoreplease."
Christie Brinkley as "Ferrari Girl"
Clarke found himself in hot water when he took a dip with Christie Brinkley, a.k.a. the "girl in the Red Ferrari."
Christie Brinkley
At 59, the former "Sports Illustrated" supermodel still turns heads. She served as the face for CoverGirl for over 25 years and has also been featured in publications like Playboy and Men's Health. The mother of three was married to Billy Joel from 1985-1994, appearing in several of his music videos including "Uptown Girl." In 1997, Brinkley briefly reprised her role as the "girl in the Ferrari" for "Vegas Vacation."
Jane Krakowski as Cousin Vicki
Krakowski was up to no good as Cousin Eddie's trashy daughter, Cousin Vicki.
Jane Krakowski
Krakowski is known for her roles on TV's "Ally McBeal" and "30 Rock," where she memorably played self-obsessed "TGS" star Jenna Maroney for seven seasons. The 44-year-old actress won a Tony Award for 2003 for her performance in the musical "Nine." In 2011, she became a first-time mom, giving birth to son Bennet Robert Godley.
"Caddyshack" director Harold Ramis helped bring the Griswald saga to life. Ramis has appeared in front of the camera as Egon in the "Ghostbusters" films. Some of his other notable directing credits include "Groundhog Day," "Multiplicity" and "Analyze This."
