Father and Son
Born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents, Marco Antonio Muñiz grew up in Spanish Harlem. He described himself to CBS News' Tracy Smith as "awkward. I had glasses. I weighed two pounds! My dad always told me, and as God's-honest truth: 'Son, we're ugly. Work on your personality.' Swear!"
It was, Anthony claims, "The best thing he ever told me. What happened was I'd stutter. And I really couldn't put a sentence together. But when I sang, I didn't stutter. [So] that was my preferred way of communicating."
"So how early on did you know that music was going to be your life?" Smith asked.
"I never said, 'One day I'm going to be a singer.' I was just always a singer."
