Elie Wiesel 1928-2016
Elie Wiesel lights a candle Dec. 18, 1995, at a temporary altar set at the site of the former Argentine Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA) in Buenos Aires during a ceremony to commemorate the July 1994 bombing of the AMIA building in which 86 people died.
Wiesel's death was announced on July 2, 2016, by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, of which Wiesel was a founding member.
