Aug. 14, 2012: Thomas Alton Caffall, 35, allegedly opened fire on County Constable, Brian Bachmann, 41. Shots were exchanged, leaving Bachmann, Caffall, and another man dead near the campus of Texas A&M University.
Just after noon, College Station police began fielding frantic 911 calls about gunfire in the neighborhood near the university's football stadium. Responding officers found the Brazos County Constable shot on the lawn of the house.
For nearly 30 minutes, police exchanged shots with Caffall as a neighbor, a former Army medic, waited with frustration for the all-clear so he could tend to the injured constable.
Caffall was shot, and later died at a hospital.College Campus Shootings

It was an "extremely chaotic scene," police Chief Howard Jordan said of the deadliest campus shooting in five years.
The chief said Tuesday that Goh killed his seven victims execution-style.
The shooter allegedly walked into the University's single-story building, took a receptionist hostage and went looking for a particular female administrator.
One witness said Goh told students: "Get in line and I'm going to kill you all." Goh walked into a classroom, lined up students against a wall and shot them one by one, Jordan said.
"This was a calculated, cold-blooded execution in the classroom," he said.
Goh ended his rampage by driving off in a victim's car, police said. The gunman allegedly drove about three miles from campus before surrendering to officers inside a supermarket.

others, and chased the officer who ultimately killed him. He was not armed at
the time of the shooting.
Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran held a news conference to release details about the death of Collar, of Wetumpka, Ala. The nude student was fatally wounded after allegedly confronting the officer on campus.
Collar went to a music festival and took the drug before assaulting two people in vehicles and attempting to bite a woman's arm, Cochran said.

Flint wasn't a student at the university located 100 miles southwest of
Atlanta near the Alabama state line, and no one else was hurt in
the incident.
University Police Chief Rus Drew said officers were called at 2:35 p.m. Sunday and arrived three minutes later to an area near some campus apartments and began chasing a man on foot.
"There was a short foot chase and at some point the suspect turned and faced the officers and shots were fired," Drew said. He added that while there were some student witnesses, no lockdown was ordered because events had unfolded rapidly and authorities had determined that an "isolated threat" had ended.
